Teen & Youth Pageants in Florida: A First-Timer's Guide

Looking for teen and youth pageants in Florida? A plain-English first-timer's guide to ages, costs, scoring and Nationals in Jacksonville, FL, July 8–10, 2027.

Searching for teen and youth pageants in Florida can quickly get confusing—dozens of organizations, unfamiliar terms, and very different price tags. If your daughter has never competed before, this guide walks you through what to look for, what it costs, and how to get started, all in plain English.

Good news for Florida families: Miss National American Teen & Collegiate (MNATC) holds its Nationals right here in the state—July 8–10, 2027 at The SouthBank Hotel in Jacksonville, FL.

What to Look for in a Florida Pageant as a First-Timer

Not every pageant is built for beginners. Before you sign up anywhere, check for these five things:

  1. Age-appropriate divisions. Your daughter should compete only against girls her own age.
  2. Clear, published scoring. You should know what each area is worth before competition day.
  3. Training for beginners. Look for coaching built into the program, not sold as expensive extras.
  4. Honest, all-in pricing. Watch for surprise add-on fees.
  5. A values-based focus. Programs that reward confidence, communication and character rather than costly appearance makeovers.

Natural vs. Glitz Pageants (Plain-English Version)

You'll see two words often. Glitz pageants feature heavy makeup, spray tans, wigs and custom costumes. Natural pageants keep styling age-appropriate and score personality, poise and communication. For a first-timer, natural pageants are usually far less stressful and far less expensive. MNATC is a natural, glitz-free, values-based system. Learn more in our glitz vs. natural parent's guide.

Ages and Divisions

MNATC welcomes girls and young women ages 4–26, grouped into age divisions so everyone competes with peers.

  • Ages 4–12: our Princess Pageant is a gentle, friendship-focused on-ramp for younger girls.
  • Teens and collegiate (up to 26): young women can enter themselves and compete for their own titles.

For the full breakdown, see pageant age divisions explained.

How Scoring Works

MNATC uses transparent scoring, so there are no mystery points. The Panel Interview is 30% of the score—a friendly conversation about your goals, interests and community. Other areas include stage presentation and wardrobe. Every category is listed on our competition page.

What It Costs

Florida families often ask this first. MNATC Nationals is $655 all-inclusive, and coaching is included in the entry fee. Simple, off-the-rack outfits are perfectly appropriate. See every line item in our natural pageant cost breakdown.
